Arwyn Moonrise
As eloquently stated by one of Arwyn’s students, Josie, "Arwyn approaches yoga with so much knowledge and passion, it is a joy to be in her presence. Even when she's telling you to suck in your bandhas and drop your hips. She exudes enthusiasm for the practice and offers insightful tips to help find your own variation to personalize each asana. Arwyn knows the body well and loves sharing her wisdom.”
How did you become interested in yoga?
I started practicing Yoga as a child with my mother, crawling over, under, and around her poses. It was a great start to a lifelong passion for the practice of Yoga.
So, your mother was interested in yoga, but often, children find their own interests. Is there any specific reason why you remained so attached to yoga?
After I was diagnosed with scoliosis and endured painful leg surgery that resulted in my being in a wheelchair for 3 months, I returned to yoga out of necessity. My success with Yoga as an integral part of my rehabilitation led me to pursue a more intensive study with the intent to share this knowledge. Immersing myself in the study of human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and their expression through Yoga has changed my life.
When did you decide to then help other people change their own lives through yoga?
At 22 I opened a studio, which began my career as a Yoga Instructor and Bodyworker. For the last 11 years I have taught in different countries, various studios, and to all levels and ages of students. I find joy and success facilitating others in finding the full realization of their potential through Yoga.
What do you think differentiates you from other yogis?
My teaching is rooted in a deep kinesthetic knowledge and seasoned ability to recognize and guide students to find alignment and strength. Each time I work with a student my intention is to help them develop strength, length, awareness, and conscious movement. I offer every student, no matter their level, encouragement to challenge his or her body within a supported space. My studies are based mostly in Iyengar and Ashtanga, so I offer an understanding of the technical principles of alignment and the connection of breath and movement and meld them together into a vigorous and connected practice.
When practicing Yoga, what do you wear?
I LOVE the Lotus pant and my favorite top is the Karma Racerback, the fit is great! The Perfect Core II bra is the perfect amount of support and super comfortable.
Arwyn is wearing the Lotus Power Cami and the Selene Power Legging as well as the Cool It Tank with the lucy Perfect Core Bra II.
