Benefits of an Evening Workout

Let’s face it, the days are shorter, and the nights a little colder which make it that much harder to motivate yourself to stay active. By the time you get home from work, it’s already dark outside and all you want to do is pour yourself a glass of wine and watch Netflix. The sun might be down, but it’s time to fire up within and get moving! Here are 4 benefits to working out at night.

Night Runs

You have never truly felt free until you enjoy a night-time jog under the moon’s glow. There are less people in your way, the air is cleaner, and you can be alone with your thoughts. Remember to stay aware of your surroundings and ro bring a running buddy along.

Better Sleep

P.M work outs result in a higher quality and length of sleep. People who struggle falling sleep have recently been recommended to try adding a quick workout to their night time routine. If counting sheep isn’t working to get you to sleep, you may want to try some cardio before hitting the sheets.

More Energy

Studies have shown that muscular function and strength is at its height in the evening. That means we can go longer at night at a much higher intensity.

Release tension

Exercise has proven to be an excellent way to release any built up tensions. After a long day at work, throwing in your headphones and punching out the frustrations of the day may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

So tonight, after you leave work, get out and get moving. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you!
