Local’s guide to Wanderlust Oahu

Are you headed to Oahu for Wanderlust? We’ve teamed up with Kathy of Island Fever Sisters for the local’s guide to ‘the gathering place’. Here’s her picks for food trucks, beaches and adventures!

I’m so excited to be representing Lucy at this year’s Wanderlust Festival on Oahu. This will be a 4-day experience held at the gorgeous Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore. Daily Activities include yoga, music, food and arts, perfect for everyone! Being a local girl from the island, I wanted to share a true local’s guide of some of my favorite spots from beaches, eats to adventures near where Wanderlust will be held.

Favorite local eating spots:

We love our food trucks and the food is delicious! Hawaii has some of the best food and fruits, so be sure to try it once before you knock it.

Pupukea Grill – This food truck is a favorite on the North Shore where you just might run into some of the best professional surfers in the world. Try their poke bowls! (Marinated fresh ahi tuna)

Giovanni’s Original Shrimp Truck – This famous shrimp truck is a must and if you love garlic, well you will be in heaven with the garlic shrimp here.

Matsumoto’s Shave Ice – Be prepared to wait in a long for the best shave ice on the island.

Haleiwa Bowls – These acai bowls are a perfect treat after a great workout or after a day of being in the sun.

Favorite local beaches:

One tip for all tourists, it doesn’t matter how great of a swimmer you are, NEVER turn your back on the water. The currents are strong here, so just be cautious. If there are warning flags out, DO NOT go in.

Ke’iki Beach - This beach is my ultimate favorite on the North Shore. Not only do you get to enjoy watching big surf, there are so many unique shells you can collect here. You might even be lucky and find a sunrise shell.

Ke’iki Beach

Shark’s Cove - When the waves are calm, this is a great place to snorkel and see some of the most beautiful, tropical fishes. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear, as they are a lot of sea urchins.

Waimea BayThis is a beautiful bay where the waves can get huge and occasionally when they hit 30-40 ft., they hold the ‘The Eddie’. It’s a sight to see seeing these massive wave riders.

Favorite adventures:

If you’re feeling adventurous, there are so many fun and exciting things you can while you’re here.

North Shore Shark Cage Tours – Ever wanted to swim with sharks in a safe environment? This is a thrilling and one-of-a-kind experience. You might even get to see whales now that they are in season.

Horseback Riding on the beach – While riding along the most beautiful beaches, enjoy the view and it’s a great way to experience North Shore.

Make sure to follow @LucyActivewear on Instagram where I will be taking over and showing you Wanderlust Oahu from Feb. 26-28.

Until then, a hui hou! (Until we meet again)
